Veganuary Events to Look Out For

Unless you’ve been curled up inside a dog bed for the past two weeks, you’ll know that it’s Veganuary—and we at THE PACK are trying our best to contain our zoomies about it!

There are so many exciting ways to get involved in this month that celebrates the goodness of plants and how eating them benefits the planet, farmed animals, humans and our four-legged companions. We hope that you and your pooch are having tons of tail-wagging fun this month, preparing tasty and healthy plant-based meals for the two of you and treating yourselves by dining out together through our Dine With Your Dog campaign. If you’re feeling as though you’d like to get even more involved with the greatest month of the year (in our barkful opinion), check out these upcoming Veganuary events taking place throughout the UK that will induce intense drooling on your part.

Good Eats

If you love the flavours of Indian cuisine as much as we do, we suggest you visit ‘Veganuary Mela’—a vegan street food extravaganza! On Sunday, 15 January from 11am-9pm at Namaste Village in Norwich, a recreation of a traditional Indian carnival will take place where everything is vegan and delicious! You will not want to miss out on this event that costs only £3 to get in and will have tons of food stalls, a bazaar, music and dance performances going on throughout the day!

If you’re like a pooch who doesn’t enjoy staying still, you’ll want to check out Plant Power! Vegan Food Tour of Camden that takes place every Tuesday to Sunday of the month, from the 17th until the 31st. For approximately 2.5-3 hours, you and a group will be eating your way through Camden Town, trying out some of the best vegan options the city has to offer, including vegan Chinese and Mexican food, fried ‘fish’ and ‘chicken’ and a surprise sweet treat at the end of the tour. Tickets range from £50-60, and we assure you, it will be worth every penny!

For humans over the age of 18 who prefer to keep their paws clean, we recommend checking out Veganuary at the Supper Club on Friday, 27 January from 7-10pm at Spread Eagle Hotel (London). For £60, you will indulge in a 4-course tasting menu designed by Head Chef David, along with a premium vegan wine to accompany each exquisite plate. Tickets are on sale until 7pm on Thursday, 26 January—but don’t wait too long, as this event usually sells out fast.

Let’s Get Cooking!

If you think you can’t teach an old dog new tricks when it comes to plant-based cooking, this Vegan Cooking Class, taking place on Friday, 20 January from 6:30-8:30pm at Prendergast Vale School (London) will prove you wrong! For £75, you’ll be learning from the best and be surrounded by fellow attendees eager to better understand vegan cooking techniques. By the end of the event, you will have the confidence and ability to cook new recipes and improve on the traditional ones you already know but want to put a plant-based twist on. From roasted vegetables plait to black bean brownies, you’ll come out of this workshop being a plant-based pro!

Are you thinking that because it’s Veganuary, you can’t enjoy sushi all month long? You must be barking! At this Vegan Sushi Workshop taking place on Friday, 20 January from 2-5pm at Food Exchange, New Covent Garden Market (London), you’ll learn how to make your own vegan sushi step-by-step—from how to cook the perfect sushi rice to the art of sushi making, such as hand roll, inside out roll and sushi canapes. This workshop is tailored for beginners, so there’s no need to tuck your tail between your legs if anything goes awry. Hurry and sign up—tickets sales end on 16 January.

Is cheese the only thing preventing you from giving Veganuary a go? If so, be sure to sign up for Masterclass: Vegan Cheese Making, taking place on Saturday, 21 January from 10am-2:30pm at Liberty Hall – Made in Hackney (London). At this event, you’ll be learning from Ellie—former cheese aficionado and the founder of Kinda Co—on how to make your own dairy-free, flavour rich plant-based cheeses using a variety of nuts and seeds. You’ll be taught how to make different versions of plant-based parmesan, mozzarella, cream cheese and fondues that will fool anyone into thinking it was the milk-based version. Secure your ticket fast—people are going nuts about this class!

Vegan Markets

If you’re feeling Xmas markets withdrawal this month like we are, be sure to check out one of the Vegan Markets taking place throughout the UK organised by Vegan Market Co. Whether you’re heading out to the market at Bletchley (Saturday, 21 January from 10:30am-4pm), Oxford (Sunday, 22 January from 10:30am-4pm), Leeds (Saturday, 28 January from 10am-4pm) or Sheffield (Sunday, 29 January from 10:30am-4pm), you’ll be in for a treat as there will be an array of vegan street food vendors, craft brewers, artisan bakers, ethical jewellers, local artists and so much more! The admission is free and best of all, if you’re going to the market in Bletchley, Oxford or Sheffield, you can bring along your well-behaved pooch on a lead with you. Nothing beats good vegan eats in the company of your pooch!
