Best Dog Friendly Hotels and B&Bs In The UK

As pawrents, it can be really ruff when it comes time to leave our four-legged family members behind as we’re about to head off on holiday. The purpose of our getaway is to try to relax and unwind our minds, but instead, we end up finding ourselves wondering how many kisses our pup is giving the pet-sitter!

Instead of daydreaming you’re with your pooch every second of your vacay, why don’t you bring them along on your stay?

In this blog, we’re listing 5 wag-nificent places, from the north to the south of the UK, to book your next trip that are not only dog-friendly, but plant-based and therefore all-animals friendly too!

Saorsa 1875 | 100% Vegan Hotel (Pitlochry)

If you and your pooch want to feel like royalty, you’ll have to book a night at Saorsa 1875—the UK’s 1st Completely Vegan Hotel! This bohemian-styled hotel in the heart of Scotland has three dog-friendly rooms you and your pooch can choose from (Puffin, Water Vole and Capercaillie) at an additional cost of £25 per night. As described on its website, this hotel is ‘designed for vegans, vegetarians, and the plant-curious’, serving mouth-watering, cruelty free meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner (you can dish out on their 5-course dinner available from Thursday to Saturday for £60 per human). While pooches aren’t allowed in the main dining room, you can eat with them if an employee seats you both in the snug or you two grab a seat at the bar. Before checking out, be sure to take your pooch for a sniffari of the luscious grounds of this luxurious hotel.

Ambleside Manor Guest House (Lake District)

For another country escape with your pooch, this time in the Lake District, book your stay at Ambleside Manor. This Victorian-style guest house is set on two acres of lush greenery and is 100% vegetarian (with many vegan options available)—meaning you can munch away on that croissant while breathing in the fresh air with your pooch by your side (is it paw-ssible for holidays get better than that?!). Well behaved pooches are welcome to stay in ground floor rooms, so be sure to notify the guest house you’re bringing your furry friend along with you well before your trip. While you can’t enjoy a meal with your dog in the dining room or the guest lounge, your pooch will be in for a treat when you two head out for one of the many walks the Lake District has to offer.

Inhabit Hotels, Queens Garden & Southwick Street (London)

You and your pooch will feel like you’ve had one long dog day afternoon after checking into one of two Inhabit Hotels, where wellness and relaxation are encouraged for two- and four-legged guests. Book the ‘Inhabit Doggie Retreat’ package, where your pooch can choose from a super comfy and supportive dog bed from the eco-friendly brand Settle, or a pressure-relieving memory foam bed from Casper (you may want to consider switching beds with your pooch!). Pet-friendly rooms are limited to one pup per room, and only dogs under 25lbs are permitted (so unfortunately, your Great Dane can’t host his birthday party here). Oh, and did we mention that all food served here is meat-free?!

The Base Vegan Retreat (Bristol)

Looking for a holiday that’s different from any other, with your pooch in tow? Book a weekend getaway at The Base Vegan Retreat—which is also a small animal sanctuary! While pooches of any size are welcome here, be sure to keep them on a lead when in the garden, where the Retreat’s resident rabbits and birds are normally roaming. As if this place’s all-vegan meals and afternoon tea were not enough to convince you to book your stay, you’ll be persuaded after finding out that your pooch will be in paradise here, too; ‘Cock Road Ridge’ is a nature reserve that’s around the corner from the Retreat—a hidden oasis for dogs and pawrents alike, with woodland, a large meadow and an apple orchard where your dog is free to release zoomies off their lead.

Nab Cottage (Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex)

If you and your dog can’t resist the water and getting your toes sandy, book a stay at Nab Cottage—a charming Victorian farmhouse dating from the 1850s that is just a 10-minute drive (or 30-minute walk) from the beach. This B&B, owned by Cathy and her pooch Ruby, will feel like home away from home; it has three guest bedrooms and an all-vegan breakfast served in the intimate sitting room, where guests (with a tail and without) are invited to mingle with each other. After spending the day at one of the many dog-friendly stretches of beach around you, back at the Cottage, for £25, you can enjoy a 3-course meal with your pup by your side. If staying during a chillier season, you and your pooch will be kept feeling warm and fuzzy when sat down by the wood burning stove located in the main room.
