It is Judy & Damien here - the founders of THE PACK. We have some very exciting news to share with you. We are proud to announce that THE PACK is joining the community of businesses doing good in the world and are now a Pending B Corp.
As people we have always been mission driven and we care deeply about the planet we live on and reflect a lot on how we can all do better. The process of becoming a B Corp will help us better build a truly sustainable company and achieve our goals of creating a better world for people, planet and animals.
Many of you might not know but we created another company before THE PACK called Vevolution. We dedicated five years of our lives to creating a community of people who were passionate about creating solutions to the problems our world is facing. We were at the heart of the plant-based and sustainability movement which gave us an insight into how business can be used as a force for good.
This is what led us to the B Corp community. Not only was creating game-changing vegan dog food key when we created THE PACK but so was being transparent as a company. The B Corp certification has created a framework to balance the planet, people and profit so that one area is not prioritised over another.
Certified B Corporations are leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. Their certification measures a company’s entire social and environmental impact. In order to achieve certification, a company must:
- Demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and passing their risk review.
- Make a legal commitment by changing the corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders, and achieve benefit corporation status if available in their jurisdiction.
- Exhibit transparency by allowing information about the company’s performance measured against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
So what does a Pending B Corp mean? The Pending B Corp status is designed to give startups and smaller companies time to prepare for the rigorous process of full B Corp Certification. So we now have a limited period of time to complete the assessment to become a fully fledged B Corp.
